Questions

How much is flight delay compensation?+

Under UK261 and EU261 it is a fixed amount based on distance, not your ticket price: about £220 for short flights, £350 for medium, and £520 for long-haul, per passenger. It applies when you arrive 3 or more hours late and the delay was the airline's fault.

What counts as the airline's fault?+

Staffing shortages, most technical faults and overbooking count, so compensation is due. Genuinely extraordinary circumstances like severe weather, third-party strikes or air-traffic-control restrictions let the airline off the compensation, though you still get care and a refund or re-route.

How far back can I claim?+

In the UK you can usually claim for flights up to 6 years ago. Limits vary by country, so do not assume an old delay is too late.
