Is your council tax band too high?
Hundreds of thousands of homes were banded wrong back in 1991 and have been overpaying ever since. If yours is one, the refund is backdated and your bill drops for good. See what it could be worth.

A rough estimate using England band ratios. Bands and rates vary by council. England and Wales challenge via the VOA, Scotland via the SAA.
Questions
How do I know if my band is wrong?+
Two quick checks. Compare your band with similar neighbouring homes (a public check on the VOA site in England and Wales, the SAA in Scotland), and work out what your property was worth in 1991, which is the date bands are based on. If neighbours in identical homes are a band lower, you likely have a case.
Can I get money back?+
Yes. If your band is lowered, the refund is backdated, often to when you moved in or even to 1993, and your future bills drop too. The challenge itself is free.
Is there any risk?+
A review can in rare cases move a band up as well as down, including for neighbours, so check the neighbour and 1991 evidence first. If both point the same way, the case is strong.
